STRAWBERRY AND ALMOND SMOOTHIE

Her eyes wandered with utmost fear into the darkness of the room, and as it sunk into her heart that anytime now the clock will strike 12………..its midnight………time for all the dark spirits to rise from their sleep and she will be privy to their appearances, just because she’s been a bad girl and is far away from the comfort and protection that sleep offers.   Fearing all that is going to happen, and to ensure that no creepy hand can touch her skin she wraps herself in the blanket ensuring shes tucked in from all sides, leaving just her nose outside so that she can breathe.  And there it goes, dong – dong – dong …….one, two three……………twelve, she’s counted till twelve.  She squeezes her eyes shut and breathes as slowly and silently as she can, visions of all the horror movies shes ever seen haunt her mind and she curses herself for not being able to sleep.  She dare not open her eyes lest there’s a pair of green monstrous eyes peeping right into hers……..she dare not leave any part of her body out of the blanket lest it comes into contact with any cold wicked air that passes by……… She would cling to her rosary close to her chest, and chanting the Our Father till sleep finally wraps its arms around her pulling her into a slumber away from all those eerie thoughts.

That little girl was me!

Over the years I have grown out of that fear, and I know that midnight does not mean awakening of evil spirits.  I dont know if ghosts exist or not, but what I know for sure today is that God does exist and he is stronger than anything else I can ever imagine.  But yes, I do not know see any more horror movies, lest they haunt me again for nights together.

Makes me kind of laugh thinking about those nights where I prayed to fall asleep before midnight.

How vulnerable the human heart it, how easy it is to be carried away by what the world puts into your mind…..

Lets get on with the recipe, before anything else can haunt our minds.

This smoothie is a nice and easy way to sneak in almonds to kids.  Viha will not eat almonds so I make this for her and ensure she gets the goodness of almonds into her system along with the strength of milk and taste of her favourite strawberries.
