From where I started almost 10 years ago, I never ever thought I will give a thought to having my own website, neither did I think I will get this far with blogging.  I was silent and then active, and then silent again……it continued for a long time, but I never wanted to give up and I am truly happy I did not. It is exciting to be able to share what you love the most.  I love food and travel.  I have a fairly good life….a great husband, a lovely child, wonderful family members and adorable friends.  I live a good life….am comfortably comfortable in my existence in this world.  If I had one wish, I would ask God to allow me to eat all the food that I could without getting fat, and travel all around the world without getting tired with my precious twosome besides me, and then write about it, and hopefully even get paid for it.    I am a greedy pig in all that I ask for (head hanging down but shameless). I don’t know how far my wish will come true, but you know what, I for one, truly believe that if God has put something in my heart, then I will achieve it, if only I believe.  And you know what, I do believe that my dreams will come true.  That I do not just day dream, but that almighty will move me towards those dreams. So here’s a step towards all that I want to achieve in life….my very own site. Wohooooo.  There’s a lot of work to be done here yet. A lot of corrections to be made, a lot of old posts to be categorized.  I am working on all that, but I just couldn’t keep it to myself any more. I had to share it. So here I am introducing a new web-child, my baby, a part of my dream – LIFE AND SPICE.  I am a chatterbox, if you know me personally.  I can chatter with my mouth, and with my hands too (on the keyboard).  So here’s all that chattering, and I hope I can just keep it alive, till I am breathing. Its a food blog  – right?  So I need to share a recipe. Like any Indian I will do what is done on the beginning of anything new – cook something sweet.  So here’s a sweet recipe, the taste of which is hearty and satisfying Ingredients 1 cup broken or cracked wheat or  dalia almost 3 cups water 1/4 cup clarified butter or ghee 1/2 cup jiggery melted with about 2 to 3 Tbsp water 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 2 tbspn chopped almonds or cashews gently fried Method In a pan saute broken wheat with ghee till it becomes a deep brown in colour and you can smell heartiness Now add water and cover and cook Check if its cooked through add more water if required. It has to be slightly al-dente. Once wheat is done add the jiggery, chopped nuts and cardamon powder and let it cook for further 5 minutes on low heat. Take off heat. Garnish with almonds or cashews if you wish to. Serve hot lapsi1 lapsi
